Verkhovna Rada supported the draft law on strengthening liability for unlawful influence on the results of sports competitions
On February 26, 2025, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine supported the draft law amending Article 369³ of the Criminal Code of Ukraine to increase liability for unlawful influence on the results of official sports competitions.
The draft law provides for a significant increase in fines - from one thousand to five thousand tax-free minimum incomes or imprisonment for up to three years for offenses related to manipulation of competition results.
In addition, the unauthorized use of exclusive sports information is punishable by a fine of five to ten thousand tax-free minimum incomes or imprisonment for a term of two to five years.
The law aims to eliminate gaps in the Criminal Code of Ukraine and strengthen legal liability for unlawful influence on the results of sports competitions, in particular in the context of growing cases of integrity violations in sports.
