Ukraine is actively involved in the international Network of National Platforms

The delegation of Ukraine to the Follow-up Committee of the Macolin Convention (T-MC), consisting of the Head of the delegation, State Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Oleksiy Perevezentsev and Head of Department of International Cooperation and European Integration, Member of the T-MC Bureau Nataliia Radchuk, took part in the online meeting of the Group of Copenhagen, a network of more than 30 national platforms of sports integrity that is an advisory body to the Committee for the Follow-up Committee of the Macolin Convention.

During the event, the head of the Ukrainian delegation to the T-MC reported on the losses suffered by the sports sector since the beginning of Russia's full-scale military aggression against Ukraine, and called on the participants to continue collective pressure on the aggressor countries in international sports and to prevent citizens of Russia and Belarus from participating in international competitions in any status, including neutral.

Oleksiy Perevezentsev informed participants that under the coordination of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, an Interagency Working Group "National Platform of Sports Integrity", had been established to develop and approve a procedure for reviewing allerts about possible manipulations of sports competitions. 

The Ukrainian side also presented the webportal of the National Platform of Sports Integrity, which provides information on the manipulation of sports competitions and provides an opportunity to report such facts.

State Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports thanked his Estonian colleagues for sharing best practices in launching a survey of athletes on the spread of match-fixing and manipulation of sports competitions, which is currently being conducted in table tennis, football and e-sports.

During the Group of Copenhagen meeting, Oleksiy Perevezentsev informed his European colleagues about the activities of the Ministry of Youth and Sports to raise awareness of the manipulation of sports competitions. The next event for table tennis representatives will take place tomorrow, 06 April, and will be broadcasted.

The Council of Europe Convention on the Manipulation of Sports Competitions (Macolin Convention) was ratified by Ukraine on 16 November 2016 (Law of Ukraine ‘On Ratification of the Council of Europe Convention on the Manipulation of Sports Competitions’).

In order to implement the Macolin Convention, the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine created a webportal of the National Platform of Sports Integrity, which allows representatives of the sports community and other citizens to report violations related to sports competitions.
