The National Platform of Sports Integrity was presented

On 29 September, the Ministry of Youth and Sports initiated a webinar of the National Sports Integrity Platform and a presentation of its website. 

The webinar was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Association of Football  and famous athletes.

Opening the webinar, Oleksiy Perevezentsev, State Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine and Deputy Head of the Interagency Working Group "National Platform of Sports Integrity", emphasised the main goal of the National Platform, which is to establish effective coordination of stakeholders from all sectors in preventing and counteracting the manipulation of sports competitions. That is why the creation of the National Platform of Sports Integrity is extremely important for ensuring the integrity of Ukrainian sport.

Nataliia Radchuk, Head of Department of International Cooperation and European Integration of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, in her presentation, outlined the tasks and functions of the National Platform, its legal status and organisational form.

During the webinar, the representative of the NOC of Ukraine presented the IOC model rules for international federations and their members to implement the Olympic Movement Code on the Prevention of the Manipulation of Competitions for further implementation in their countries.

UAF experts Francesco Baranka and Vitaliy Danylchenko presented the experience of the Ukrainian Association of Football in combating match-fixing and provided recommendations for other federations on how to start this fight.

Sergiy Stakhovsky, a well-known Ukrainian tennis player, said that during his sports career he had faced attempts to influence him by the organisers of match-fixing. Athlete noted that he believes it is necessary for sports integrity bodies to guarantee safety of athletes who disclose details of illegal influence on them.

In the future, the National Platform of Sports Integrity plans to continue to hold systematic events to train athletes and representatives of sports federations in the field of combating corruption in sports.
