On May 23, the National Platform's experts joined an educational seminar for tennis judges organized by the Ukrainian Tennis Federation. The purpose of the panel was to raise awareness of judges about integrity in sports and prevention of manipulation of competition results.
The speakers were Nataliia Radchuk, Secretary of the National Platform for Sports Integrity, and Andrii Nekrutov, expert of the National Platform. The speakers outlined the key threats that may arise in the professional activities of referees and reminded of the responsibility of all participants in the sports movement to comply with the principles of fair play. The presentation emphasized the activities of the ITIA (International Tennis Integrity Agency), a reputable international organization that combats manipulation in tennis on a global level.
It was emphasized that a judge, like other participants in the sports movement, is obliged to report any cases or attempts to manipulate sports competitions, and cannot disclose classified or internal information about the course or results of competitions that could potentially be used for illicit enrichment.
Andriy Nekrutov also shared with the seminar participants examples of more practical things, such as ways to recognize manipulation. Several examples were provided to the participants, one of which was the Maestro case, which uncovered an international network of match-fixing in tennis.
