The event was opened by the president of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, Olympic champion sabre fencer Vadym Guttsait. In his greeting to the young fencers, the president of the NOC emphasized that their efforts and dedication to sports victories should inspire them to avoid manipulation in sports as their careers progress. He noted that it is honest sportsmanship and hard work that provide the opportunity to become internationally recognized athletes and Olympic champions.
