On April 26, the National University of Ukraine on Physical Education and Sport hosted a meeting of the National Platform of Sports Integrity with representatives of the Ukrainian Handball Federation, athletes and coaches of the women's Super League clubs - Halychanka, Karpaty, KOSFK and Spartak-SVSM.
While opening the event, President of the Federation Andriy Melnyk emphasized the importance of such educational seminars for handball players, stressing the principled position of the national federation in matters of ethics and fair play in sports. Oleksiy Perevezentsev, Deputy Chairman of the National Platform of Sports Integrity and First Vice President of the NOC of Ukraine, informed the audience about the activities of the IOC and the NOC of Ukraine to prevent the manipulation of sports competitions and shared international experience in combating match-fixing.
Unfortunately, the manipulation of competition results or sports fraud is becoming more and more widespread. Manipulations devalue the essence of sport, violate the principles of integrity and unpredictability of the sporting spectacle. That is why international organizations and the global sports movement have developed a number of documents and introduced the necessary rules in response to this - Oleksii Perevezentsev emphasized.
Nataliia Radchuk, secretary of the National Platform of Sports Integrity, presented to the participants the activities of the National Platform mechanisms for anonymous reporting of match-fixing and other sports manipulations, including through the National Platform's website.
Oleksandr Chaichenko, Chairman of the Committee of Ethics and Fair Play of the Ukrainian Handball Federation, informed about the federation's activities to tackle manipulation in handball, including the development of relevant documents and rules, as well as the federation's bodies authorized to respond to cases of violation of sports ethics.
