The National Platform Continues Its Educational Work with Ukraine’s National Teams: Weightlifting in Focus

On December 18, an educational event on sports integrity was held at the Olympic Training and Sports Center “Koncha-Zaspa” for the National Weightlifting Team of Ukraine. The event was organized within the framework of the National Platform of Sports Integrity with the aim of increasing awareness among athletes and coaching staff about the risks of manipulation of sports competitions and violations of the principles of fair play.

The speakers included experts from the National Platform, a representative of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, Denys Polubinskyi, and the Head of the NGO “Play Fair,” Sviatoslav Syrota. During the event, they spoke about current challenges to sports integrity, the main forms of manipulation of competition results, the prohibition of betting for athletes and related persons, as well as liability for violations of the relevant rules at both national and international levels.
Special attention was paid to practical aspects of preventing manipulation, including the role of athletes in protecting clean sport, the importance of timely reporting of suspicious approaches or pressure, and the functioning of reporting mechanisms within the National Platform for Sports Integrity. Participants were informed about how to act in risk situations and whom to contact for assistance.

The event also featured an active discussion, during which athletes and coaches had the opportunity to ask questions, discuss real-life cases from sports practice, and receive professional explanations. Such events are part of the systematic work of the National Platform for Sports Integrity aimed at fostering a culture of zero tolerance for the manipulation of sports competitions and strengthening the principles of integrity, transparency, and responsibility across all sports.
