Representatives of the National Platform of Sports Integrity informed about Ukraine's activities to prevent the manipulation of sports competitions

A meeting of the Committee of the Council of Europe Convention on the Manipulation of Sports Competitions took place in Athens, with the participation of a delegation of representatives of the National Platform of Sports Integrity, including Nataliia Radchuk, Head of the Department of International Cooperation and European Integration of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, Oleksii Perevezentsev, First Vice President of the NOC of Ukraine, and Andrii Davydenko, representative of the Cyber Police Department of the National Police of Ukraine.

Speaking to the Committee members, Oleksii Perevezentsev, Deputy Chairman of the Interagency Working Group "National Platform of Sports Integrity", thanked his European colleagues for their continued support of the Ukrainian sports movement during the russian military aggression, informed about the losses suffered by Ukrainian sports and called for solidarity with the Ukrainian side on the inadmissibility of the participation of russian and belarusian athletes at international competitions while the war in Ukraine continues. The Deputy Chairman of the WG informed about the results of the work of the National Platform of Sports Integrity in 2023 year, in particular about the statistics and nature of the processed reports on suspicious matches and possible manipulation of sports competitions. Ukrainian side also reported about updates of the National Platform's website functionality, which are expected soon, the conclusion of memorandums of cooperation with betting companies, the organization of seminars and other events for representatives of sports organizations aimed at developing their capacity to prevent unlawful influence on the course of sports competitions and promoting the principles of sports integrity in the sports movement of Ukraine.

The delegation of Ukraine held several meetings and consultations with delegations of other states in order to establish and develop bilateral partnerships in the fight against the manipulation of sports competitions.

The Council of Europe Convention on the Manipulation of Sports Competitions (the "Macolin Convention") was ratified by Ukraine in 2016. In order to implement the Macolin Convention, an online website of the National Platform of Sports Integrity was created, which allows reporting the manipulation of sports competitions. The Working Group of the "National Platform of Sports Integrity" is authorized to consider such reports.
