National Platform held an educational event for members of national teams and coaches in pankration and grappling
On February 25, representatives of the National Platform of Sports Integrity met with members and coaches of national pankration and grappling teams in the assembly hall of the Olympic Training and Sports Center “Koncha Zaspa”. The event was joined by Vice President of the All-Ukrainian Grappling Federation Serhii Cherednichenko and Vice President of the All-Ukrainian Pankration Federation Ihor Nakonechnyi.
Nataliia Radchuk, Secretary of the Interagency Working Group "National Platform of Sports Integrity", presented main principles and activities to tackle the manipulation of sports competitions. She focused the athletes' attention on the requirements of the law, on the rules of sports organizations, and on the tasks assigned to the National Platform to coordinate issues related to the integrity of sports.
Nataliia Radchuk also familiarized the athletes with the rules of conduct to prevent manipulation, in particular:
RULE #1: Do not bargain on the result of the competition and compete fairly.
RULE #2: Do not bet on your own sport or competition.
RULE #3: Do not share inside sports information.
RULE #4: Always report if you become aware of manipulation.
Sviatoslav Syrota, member of the National Platform and representative of the NGO "Play Fair", told the athletes how to recognize manipulation in sports and emphasized the need to adhere to the principles of fair play, stressing the importance of reporting violations and ensuring transparency in all aspects of sports activities.
The main challenges faced by sports organizations in the fight against match-fixing and other forms of dishonesty were also discussed during the event. In particular, the emphasis was placed on the need for constant monitoring and education of athletes to prevent manipulation and preserve the reputation of Ukrainian sport in the international arena.
