The official website of the Councel of Europe informed on Monday July 30th that Lithuania has just ratified the Council of Europe Convention on the Manipulation of Sports Competitions. The instrument of ratification by Lithuania of the Council of Europe Convention on the Manipulation of Sports Competitions (CETS No. 215), also known as the Macolin Convention, was registered this day, 30 July 2024, by the Treaty Office of the Council of Europe.
Article notes that Lithuania thus becomes the 11th State Party to the Macolin Convention, which shall enter into force in respect of Lithuania on 1 November 2024.
This 11th ratification which coincides with the Paris Olympic Games marks another turning point in the unequivocal recognition of this unique global instrument to combat the manipulation of sports competitions - stated in the notice.
